Joachim Löw has been managing the German national football team since 2006.
He used to be a German midfielder in the past and started his playing career in FC Freiburg, then played for VfB Stuttgart, Eintracht Frankfurt, SC Freiburg, Karlsruher SC. Löw finished his career in Switzerland in 1994.
Joachim Löw started his career of a coach when he still played for FC Frauenfeld. He doubled-jobs as a player and a coach of youth FC Winterthur team.
In 1995 he became an assistant coach of VfB Stuttgart and later became the head coach. He led them to the fourth place in the Bundesliga and the team finished runner-up in the European Cup Winners’ Cup in 1998.
Later Löw headed Fenerbahce for a year. In 1999 he returned to Germany to coach Karlsruher SC after that he moved to Turkey in 2001 to head Adanaspor, where stayed for three months.
In that year he started to coach an Austrian Tirol Innsbruck club and the last club he guided before moving to Germany was FK Austria Wien.
In 2004 Joachim Löw joined Jürgen Klinsmann and became the assistant coach of the German national football team.
In the 2006 World Cup championship Germany succeeded to win all three games in their group, beat Argentina in quarterfinal, and having beaten Portugal, the team finished third.
After the World Cup championship Jürgen Klinsmann decided not to prolong the contract and Joachim Löw became the head coach.
